I know I’ve been absent lately. But no worries, all is good.
I’ve just been working on a couple of big projects that have taken a lot of time, one being an innovative medically integrated health and wellness center in collaboration with a hospital. I’ll share more about that another day.
My Live Healthy website has a fresh new look, but contains the same information which I will continue to add to. I hope you’ll take advantage of it and share it with others.
Today I want to talk about one of my favorite forms of exercise, and my absolute favorite way to do strength training – kettlebell swings. If you are not familiar with a kettlebell, it is basically a cannonball with a handle on it. Originally used as a counterweight for a scale, the Russians began to use them for training.
Here is a link to a quick kettlebell tutorial. Why do I like it so much?
It is a great “functional exercise,” meaning it is movements you use as part of life and works multiple muscle groups. You can purchase them from any sporting goods store or on Amazon. Literally, it only takes 10 to 15 minutes for a complete workout. Just use your legs more than your back. Find a weight that you can swing from 20 to 25 times, beginning with 2 to 3 sets, resting in between. Work up to 4 to 5 sets that total 100 swings. You will be amazed at the results.
Until next time, Live Healthy.
